Application for Patent of Design

To file an application for a patent of design in Lao PDR, the applicant please provides us with the following information and documents:

• Full name, address and nationality of applicant;
• Full name, address and nationality of author(s);
• Certified documents (i.e. Deed of Substitution) certifying legitimate right of the applicant to file the application for patent of design, if the applicant’s right to file the application is assigned or derived from others;
• Title of the design;
• A certified copy of priority documents, if priority right is claimed under the Paris Convention;
• A specimen of the design in case the design is two-dimensional;
• Description of the design with claims and Abstract in English;
• Twelve sets of drawings, photographs of the design. Each set consists of 3D, front-side, black-size, left-side, right-side, top-side and bottom-side projection of the design. Size of drawing sheets, photographs shall not be larger than 160 mm x 200 mm;
• A copy of search report of the design issued by any patent office of foreign country or by relevant International Organization (if any). In case of a search report, which shall not be attached with the application, the Lao Intellectual Property Office shall coordinate with any patent office of foreign country or any relevant International Organization but the entire expenditure shall be covered by the applicant;
• A notarized Power of Attorney executed by applicant in favor of Bizconsult Co., Ltd.

Renewal

To renew a Patent of Design in Lao PDR, the owner of Patent of Design please provides us with the following documents:

• Original registration of mark;
• 25 specimens of mark;
• A notarized Power of Attorney executed by the applicant in favor of Bizconsult Co., Ltd.
